This roundtable features excerpts from the award-winning film “Mother of George” (2013), the story of a young Nigerian Couple in New York who struggle with conflicts between the dictates of their cultural heritage transmitted via generationally induced gender role beliefs, with new awareness by each in becoming ” a self with a mind of one’s own.” Clinical implications for self development and gender role in an internalized world of “Ghosts and Mentors” are discussed.
